World of Warcraft
What the Companion addon does#
The Companion addon lets WingHUD know your character's class, level, gear, spec, zone, and more — including your weekly progress and a short log of what happened this session — so its advice is specific to your actual character instead of generic tips.
Install and sync it#
Click the WoW widget, or its install button on the welcome tip, to install the addon, then type /reload in WoW's own chat to load it — WingHUD can't trigger this for you, since only the game itself can reload its addons. Once it's synced, the widget shows your character's name and class.
Keeping it up to date#
The addon only reads your character when you type /reload — it never updates live while you're playing. If something looks out of date, type /reload again to refresh it.
WoW Forever#
The Companion addon and the WoW widget also work in World of Warcraft: Forever. Forever is a separate game with its own install, so WingHUD installs the addon there too the first time it sees Forever running, and keeps your Forever characters apart from your retail ones: a Forever chat only knows your Forever character. It works the same way — type /reload in Forever after the install. The widget shows what Forever has: your class, level, gear, zone, talents, quests and progression tracks (there are no Mythic+ ratings or specializations there). In Settings → Widgets, WoW Forever gets its own "Companion addon" row once it has been seen on your PC.
