Widgets and the dock
Where are my widgets?#
Press Ctrl+Tab (default — change it in Settings → Hotkeys) to open WingHUD: in overlay mode that's the chat over your game, in window mode its own window. The same key hides it again. Your widgets are in the WIDGETS pane on the right of the chat. Don't see one there? Click "Return widgets" at the top of that pane: it brings every widget back into it, including any you dragged out onto the screen. The Dota 2 widget shows up once WingHUD has seen Dota 2 on your PC; it stays greyed out while Dota 2 isn't running and suggests picks during hero selection.
What docked and floating mean#
Every widget — Screenshot, Area capture, Mic, Last Scene, YouTube, Hardware Advisor, and the per-game widgets — can either float freely wherever you've dragged it on the overlay, or sit docked together in a slim list on the right side of the chat panel, labeled WIDGETS. Docking only changes where a widget sits on screen: its hotkey, any live feed it has, and its own settings all work exactly the same either way.
Move a widget in or out of the dock#
Drag a docked widget out of the list and drop it anywhere on the overlay to make it float there instead. Drag a floating widget onto the WIDGETS panel to dock it back in, at the position you drop it. This works the same whether WingHUD is in Overlay mode or Window mode.
Bring every floating widget back to the dock#
"Return widgets," in the WIDGETS panel's own header, docks every widget you currently have floating in one click. It doesn't touch widgets that are already docked, and it doesn't move or reset anyone's floating position — for that, use "Reset widget positions" in Settings → Appearance instead.
Keep the mic widget visible while it's docked#
"Keep the mic widget visible" (Settings → Voice & audio, and the same option in the overlay's own mic popup) doesn't do anything while the mic widget is docked — a docked widget already lives in the WIDGETS panel, so it can't float on its own while the overlay is closed, which is the whole point of that setting. Undock the mic widget first if you want it to stay visible as a floating widget.
Widgets and the chat they answer in#
Widgets that answer on their own - the Dota 2 picks widget, the WoW companion and the Hardware Advisor - always answer in their game's chat. If you're in another chat (or in the party room) when you click one, WingHUD switches to that game's chat first and shows a strip at the top with Back to party or "Back to" the chat you came from. Capture widgets (Screenshot, Area capture, Last Scene) and the mic go to whatever chat is open.
