Your beta allowance
Your beta allowance#
WingHUD is free during the open beta. Each account has two allowances for the AI, so the beta stays open to everyone: a chat allowance for answers, per day and per week, and a voice allowance for answers read aloud, per day. The Hub's Home page shows how much of each you've used. Playing with friends in a party isn't metered.
What counts#
Chat covers everything that asks the AI for an answer: your questions, typed or spoken, screenshots, area captures and Last Scene, the Dota 2 widget and the Hardware Advisor. Asking out loud counts as chat too. Voice covers only the answers WingHUD reads aloud to you. An @wingman question in a party counts for whoever asked it, and if the answer is read to the party, that's the asker's voice. Party voice, party chat and the pictures you share with friends don't count. Neither does the work WingHUD does in the background, or a request that failed.
The bars on Home#
The Beta allowance card on the Hub's Home page (and in Settings → Account & Usage) has three bars: "Chat · today", "Chat · this week" and "Voice · today", each with how much is used; hover one to see when it resets. Under the chat box, "Chat 62% · Voice 91%" shows chat (whichever is higher, today or this week) and voice, yellow past 75%, orange past 95% or when voice is used up, and red when chat is used up. When most of either allowance is used, the line at the top of the chat says so once (for example "You've used most of today's voice allowance."), and you can close it.
When voice is used up#
WingHUD keeps answering, in text. The first time it happens it says so once, out loud and as a line in the chat: "That's today's voice allowance used up. I'll keep answering in text. It resets at midnight." After that, answers show in the chat without being read aloud, and the speaker button under each answer is dimmed. An answer it already read to you before still plays when you press its speaker. You can keep asking out loud, with push-to-talk or the wake word: asking counts as chat, not voice. When the chat allowance runs out (today's or this week's), read-aloud stops too, until chat resets.
When chat is used up#
WingHUD tells you instead of answering: "That's today's chat allowance used up. It resets at 00:00 — your chats and earlier answers still work." (the time is your own midnight) (or the same for this week). If you asked out loud and your voice allowance has room, it says it out loud. Answers aren't read aloud while chat is used up, even if voice has room. Widgets that ask the AI show a small "Allowance used up" badge until it resets. Your chats, history and everything WingHUD knows about you stay as they were, and you can still talk and type in a party; an @wingman question from you gets the same line, shown only to you.
Your first week#
For your first seven days after you first sign in, both allowances are doubled, so you can try everything without running into a limit early on. Hover the allowance bars to see when the first-week bonus ends; after that, the regular allowance applies.
When it resets#
Both daily allowances reset every day at midnight in your own time zone, the one your PC is set to. The weekly chat allowance resets every Monday at midnight, also your time. The Hub and the overlay show the resets in your local time. If you change your PC's time zone, WingHUD follows it, at most once a day. You don't need to do anything: WingHUD answers (or reads aloud) again as soon as the reset passes.
