Standard and Studio voices
What Standard and Studio are#
WingHUD can read your answers with two sets of voices. Standard is what new installs start with: it uses about 20 % less of your daily voice allowance, so read-aloud lasts longer. Studio has its own voices and starts speaking a little sooner after an answer begins. Your answers, your reply language and your hotkeys stay exactly the same with either; only the voice reading them changes.
Switch between Standard and Studio#
Open Settings → Voice & audio (or the voice page of the setup wizard) and pick Standard or Studio in the two cards above the voices. The voice list below them switches to that set's voices and its title says which set it is; pick one and play its preview first if you like. The change applies from the next reply, and a reply being read right now isn't interrupted. WingHUD remembers your voice in each set, so switching back gives you your old voice again. Playing a preview never uses your allowance.
Make your voice allowance last longer#
Standard voices use about 20 % less of the daily voice allowance than Studio, so the same allowance reads more answers aloud. When you've used most of today's voice allowance on Studio, WingHUD suggests switching to Standard, with a link straight to Settings → Voice & audio. Once the voice allowance is used up, answers keep coming in text either way until it resets.
Languages#
Both Standard and Studio speak all of WingHUD's reply languages. If a set of voices ever doesn't cover your reply language, its card shows greyed out with a note saying so, and WingHUD keeps reading with the other one; your reply language is never changed for you.
If a voice can't be reached#
If your chosen set of voices can't be reached for a reply, WingHUD tries once more and then reads that reply with the other set, so you still hear the answer. A short note in the chat says why it sounded different, once, until your chosen voice works again. Nothing changes in your settings.
