How WingHUD checks the current patch

Keeping up with the latest patch#

WingHUD keeps track of each game's current version, when it came out and where the patch notes are, and gives that to the AI before it answers, so advice is about the patch you're playing, not last year's meta. While you play a game, WingHUD checks for a newer patch if its facts are more than a few days old, and a weekly pass checks the games players play most. A new version only counts when it comes from the game's own site or patch notes, or from two independent trusted sites that agree. When a question depends on something very recent, WingHUD looks it up as you ask and names its source.

The sources it trusts for each game#

Every game gets its own map of where the best answers live: the most complete community wiki for items and mechanics, the stat sites for builds and the meta, the official patch notes for changes. Answers come from the right place for that game and that question, and the reply names where it came from. The map is researched game by game and updated as games and sites change, without a new version of the app.

When WingHUD isn't sure#

If WingHUD can't confirm a change - the official page didn't load, or only one site mentions it - it says so in the answer instead of presenting a guess as fact, and tells you what to check in game. For a question that needs real digging, it may offer to look it up properly; see Answer depth, Short answers and look-ups.

New games#

WingHUD looks for new and popular PC games and adds them as players start playing them, so the list of games it recognizes keeps growing. A brand-new game gets its sources mapped like every other game, and answers about it lean on look-ups until more is known. If WingHUD doesn't recognize a game you're playing, it may ask you under an answer; saying yes helps it recognize that game for everyone.
