What Voice Wingman does#

Voice Wingman lets you ask WingHUD a question out loud without opening the overlay at all. Turn it on and holding the mic hotkey shows a small voice indicator at the top of your screen — nothing else on screen changes. It still uses the hotkey; to ask without pressing anything, turn on "Hey Wingman Wake" on the mic widget and say "Hey Wingman" instead.

How it works#

Hold the mic hotkey, ask your question, and release — WingHUD sends it and reads the answer back to you automatically, always, regardless of your other read-aloud settings. Replies are automatically shortened and phrased for listening rather than reading.

Turn it on#

Turn Voice Wingman on in Settings → Voice & audio, or from the checkbox in the mic widget itself — either one keeps the other in sync. With it off, the mic hotkey does nothing while the overlay is closed.

What you see while the wingman is listening or speaking#

When you ask by voice and the mic widget isn't on screen (the overlay is closed, or the mic sits in a folded widget pane), a small pill appears at the top of the screen showing where your question is: Listening while you talk, Thinking or Searching while the answer is prepared, and Speaking while it's read to you. It shows the state only, never your words or the answer. It disappears as soon as the answer finishes.

The ✕ on the pill stops whatever is happening: while you're still talking nothing is sent, while it's thinking no answer comes, and while it's speaking the voice stops (the answer stays in the chat). Tapping the mic hotkey while it's thinking or speaking does the same, and so does Esc with the overlay open. Drag the pill anywhere; it remembers the spot.
