Asking questions
Ask a question#
Type your question into the chat box and press Enter (or click Send). Ctrl+Enter or Shift+Enter starts a new line instead, in the chat box and in the in-game chat. WingHUD replies using what it knows about the game you're currently playing, plus anything relevant from your recent chats. Ask about builds, strategy, an item, a boss, a setting, or anything else related to the game — there's no required format or command syntax.
Starter chips#
A fresh, empty chat shows a few starter chips — quick suggestions tailored to the game you're chatting about, or general ones in General chat. Some send a real question and wait for a reply, like "What's the strongest mid this patch?"; others, like "Dota 2 widget explained" or "What can WingHUD do?", answer instantly with no AI call at all. Sending your own message clears the chips — they only ever show on an empty chat.
Copy a code block or a whole reply#
Any code block in a reply gets its own copy button in the top-right corner once it finishes streaming in — click it to copy just that block, and it briefly turns into a checkmark to confirm. Every assistant reply also has its own copy button, next to the speaker and thumbs-up/down icons, that copies the whole message instead of just one block. A whole-reply copy ends with a short credit line, "— answered by WingHUD · winghud.com"; copying a code block or text you selected yourself doesn't add it.
Paste a link#
Paste a link into the chat and WingHUD reads the page before it answers — a guide, patch notes, a forum thread, or a Dota 2 profile or match page from a public Dota 2 stats site. Some sites don't allow automated readers, and some pages need a browser or a login; then WingHUD tells you it can't open the page and offers to look the topic up, or you can paste the part you mean or send a screenshot. If the link is your own Dota 2 profile, WingHUD keeps a few steady facts from it (rank, main heroes) and shows "Remembered" under the answer with Undo; Settings → Games lists what's kept, with Refresh and Remove. Other players' pages are read for the answer and never kept. A Steam profile is read only when it's your own. Up to 20 links a day.
The welcome message#
Opening a fresh chat for a game — a new one, or one you haven't sent anything in yet — shows a short welcome message plus that game's starter chips. Some games add a tip underneath: Dota 2 always gets a note about the Picks Assistant widget, and World of Warcraft gets one about installing the Companion addon until you've installed it. The message and chips disappear as soon as you send your own message.
