Ask the wingman in a party#

Write @wingman in a party message, or ask out loud: while the party is your active chat, holding the mic hotkey or saying "Hey Wingman" (with Hey Wingman Wake on) asks the party's wingman instead of your game chat - also with the overlay closed. The answer is posted in the party chat for everyone, labelled with who it was for - "answered for Alex · using Alex's live match". A spoken question gets a spoken answer in the voice room; a typed @wingman is answered in text only. Anyone in the party can ask.

Hear a reply: Read for me or Read for everyone#

Every wingman reply and every shared reply in the party chat has a speaker button. Click it and pick Read for me to hear it yourself, or Read for everyone to play it in the party's voice room so everyone hears it. If party voice is paused, Read for everyone wakes it first; if nobody else is in voice, or voice can't connect, it plays just for you and says so. Read for everyone is greyed out when the party has no voice. Each reply is turned into speech once on your PC, so playing it again starts right away.

What the wingman knows in a party#

The wingman sees the members' names and games and the party's recent chat. For game advice it uses only the asker's own data - their live match, profile and what WingHUD remembers about them - never another member's. It won't guess a friend's stats, and it won't bring up your own remembered notes in front of the party unless you ask about them. Answers count toward the asker's allowance.

Turn the wingman off for a party#

The Wingman in party switch in the party's mic bar is the leader's: off means nobody can ask the wingman in that party. To keep it off in every party you lead, turn off "Allow the wingman in parties I own" in Settings → Friends & party.

Widgets while you're in the party room#

Widgets that give an answer of their own - the Dota 2 picks widget, the WoW companion, the Hardware Advisor - answer in their game's chat, not in the party, so the chat switches there and a Back to party strip at the top takes you straight back. Captures are different: Screenshot, Area Capture and Last Scene stay in the party and attach to your next message.
