First-run setup
What setup does#
On a new install, setup opens right after you sign in; otherwise the Hub opens on Home, where a banner offers to run it if you haven't yet. It walks you through short pages — Your games, Hotkeys & tray, Devices & voice, and Friends & party — plus a Dota 2 page if you pick Dota 2. It takes about two minutes. Every page has "Skip setup" ("Take me to the overlay"), and nothing you skip is lost: every choice is also in Settings, and you can run it again any time from Home's "Run basic setup again" button.
Page 1 — Your games#
WingHUD lists the games it found installed on your PC (from your launchers' own libraries) and any other supported game you can add from the "Others" list. The games you select become your pinned games: each gets its own chat, ready before you launch the game, and they appear in the game bar above the chat and in the history pane's game list. Pinning does not install or change anything; it just gives the game a place. You can change the list any time in Settings → Games → Add games.
Page 2 — Hotkeys & tray#
This page shows the four main hotkeys — toggle overlay, screenshot, area capture and mic — with a Change button on each, and explains that WingHUD lives in your tray, not on your taskbar: press Ctrl+Tab (default — change it in Settings → Hotkeys) over any game to open the overlay and again to hide it. The hotkeys are active while this page is open, so you can try them immediately. A warning under a row means another app on this PC already uses that combination; pick a different one. The checkbox "Start WingHUD with Windows — quietly, in the tray" is on by default.
Page 3 — Devices & voice#
Choose the microphone and speaker WingHUD should use (the level meter moves when the mic hears you), press play on any voice to hear a short preview through the speaker you selected, set the speaking speed, and choose the reply language. The Voice Wingman switch is also here: with it on, you can hold the mic key and ask out loud even while the overlay is closed, and the answer is read back to you.
Page 4 — Friends & party#
Set how friends see you and how you sound in a party: your display name, an avatar picture (cropped to a circle), the party voice mode (Open mic or push to talk), the push-to-talk key (Ctrl+K unless you change it), and the microphone and speakers party voice uses ("Same as WingHUD" unless you pick others). Every change applies at once, and anything you leave alone keeps its default. If you already used WingHUD before this page existed, it opens once on its own after you update, with a Done button; each account sees it once per PC. All of it is also in Settings → Friends & party.
Page 5 — Dota 2 (only if you picked Dota 2)#
This page explains the Dota 2 widget in three lines — click it during the draft for a pick read, in the match it follows your hero live, after the match the result is saved to your Dota profile — and offers "Connect with Steam". Connecting is optional: it lets WingHUD learn your recent matches so draft advice starts from the heroes you actually play. You can do the same later from the widget's "Sync with Steam" button, and Finish never waits for a sync to complete.
Running setup again#
Open the Hub (double-click the WingHUD shortcut, or tray icon → Open WingHUD Hub) and click "Run basic setup again" on Home. If you haven't completed setup yet, Home also shows a banner offering to run it. Rerunning setup never deletes anything: your pinned games, hotkeys, voice and party settings are pre-filled with your current choices.
